The Ford Mustang has an anti-lock braking system (ABS) controller that reduces the braking force to any wheel that is rotating significantly more slowly than the others. Autel MaxiDas This prevents the brakes from locking during an emergency stop. You may need to replace the ABS controller if the ABS warning light comes on, although this does not necessarily make your vehicle unsafe to drive.

Determine which ABS controller your Ford Mustang will need. You'll want to be sure the new controller is compatible with your make and model of Mustang.Launch X431 ABS was first featured on the fourth generation models that were introduced in 1994. These models integrate the ABS controller and hydraulic control unit into a single assembly.

Disconnect the battery ground cable with a socket wrench and remove the air cleaner assembly for 2005 and later models. Detach the brake lines from the hydraulic control unit and remove the bracket nuts for the hydraulic control unit with a socket wrench.

Remove the hydraulic control unit from the vehicle and pull out the electrical connector for the pump motor. Use a socket wrench to take out the Torx head screws from the cover on the hydraulic control unit. Detach the 4-pin and 15-pin connectors and separate the ABS controller from the hydraulic control unit.

Install the ABS controller by sliding it onto the hydraulic control unit over the ground post. Attach the 4-pin and 15-pin connectors and tighten the Torx retaining screws with a socket wrench.

Mount the hydraulic control unit into the vehicle. Yanhua Digimaster 3 Use a torque wrench to tighten the bracket nuts for the hydraulic control unit to 13 feet lbs. Connect the electrical connector for the pump motor and torque the brake line fittings to 14 feet lbs.

Install the air cleaner assembly if you have a 2005 or later model and connect the negative battery cable with a socket wrench.

The fact that your 1994 Honda Accord won't go into gear is not necessarily all bad news. Not being able to put the car into gear may not be due to a faulty transmission.Launch EasyDiag Plus 2.0 It may be due to hydraulic or electrical problems rather than the gears themselves. Rebuilding or replacing the entire transmission in your vehicle is a time consuming and costly procedure. Perform these simple checks before taking your Accord to a mechanic for what could be a costly repair.

Run the vehicle to operating temperature. Turn off the car and prop open the hood when the engine is hot to get an accurate reading of the transmission fluid level in the engine. The transmission will not operate properly without the correct amount of fluid because it uses it for hydraulic power and lubrication.

Check the transmission fluid level using the red handled dipstick in the engine compartment. Pull the dipstick out, wipe the fluid off the stick with a shop rag, reinsert the stick, pull it out again and read where the fluid ends on the scored markings. Fill the transmission with Honda-approved automatic transmission fluid if it reads low.

Peel back the carpet on the passenger side floor where the carpet meets the front of the vehicle. Locate the vehicle's electronic control unit, or ECU, behind the carpet. It is a black rectangular box with a wiring harness leading from it.

Undo the clip on the wiring harness and unseat the ECU from its bracket with your hands. The ECU is a computer that controls the operation of the engine and can be faulty. XTOOL HD900 It may be stuck in "Fail-Safe" mode which would not allow the vehicle to shift gears. Take the ECU to a professional to run a diagnostic.

Use a flathead screwdriver to unfasten the two circular clamps on the air intake arm. Remove the brackets and the air intake arm from the engine compartment. Look straight down where the intake arm was to locate the speed sensor on the back of the transaxle housing.

Use a 10-mm socket to remove the speed sensor and unfasten the wiring harness on the sensor with your fingers. The speed sensor is a small electronic plug with three wires coming from it. Install a new speed sensor by clipping the wiring harness into place and using a 10-mm socket to screw the sensor into its splined hole.

Install the air intake arm back into place and use a flathead screwdriver to secure the two air intake arm brackets. OBDSTAR X300M The speed sensor sends electronic information to the ECU so the transmission may operate. If no information is sent, then the transmission will fail to operate.

Tow the vehicle to a mechanic. If the steps above do not fix the problem then the gears inside the transmission are compromised and must be rebuilt or replaced by a professional.
